Net-Metering
What is Net-Metering?
It allows qualified customers to safely connect eligible Renewable Energy (RE) systems to the grid and receive bill credits for excess electricity exported to Meralco.
Enabled by Law
A program under Section 10 of the Renewable Energy Act of 2008 (RA 9513) for eligible captive customers.
Eligible Capacity
Available for RE systems with a maximum capacity of up to 100 kW (for solar PV systems—the most common type—the limit is up to 100 kWp).
Earn Bill Credits
When your RE system produces more electricity than you need, the excess can be exported and reflected as bill credits.
How does Net-Metering Work?
Generated electricity powers your home or business first. Any excess energy is automatically exported to the grid.
USE your own produced RE first
For solar PV systems, electricity is generated during sunny hours and can directly supply your energy needs.
EXPORT excess electricity
If your system produces more than you need, the excess is exported to the grid and is read by your bi-directional meter.
IMPORT energy when needed
At night, during low solar output, or when your demand is higher than your solar generation, Meralco supplies the additional electricity you need.

How do I determine my eligibility?
Before applying, please ensure you meet the following basic qualifications
Allowed Capacity
The RE system must have a capacity of up to 100 kW (100 kWp for solar PV)
Account in Good Standing
Your Meralco account must be clear of any unpaid obligations at the time of application.
Account Details Matching
Applicant’s name must match the name on the Meralco service account
