Why Apply for Net-Metering
Supporting the push for Solar and Renewables
More Filipino homes and businesses are choosing solar to lower their electricity bills while helping protect the environment. With abundant sunlight almost year-round, the Philippines has exceptional potential to turn sunshine into clean energy and savings.
Net-Metering unlocks even more value. Use the energy your solar system produces, export the excess to the grid, and earn bill credits on your next Meralco bill.

Power your needs, export the rest
Your solar system powers your home or business first, so you draw less from the grid. Depending on your actual demand and sunlight availability, it can cover your daytime use entirely.
When your solar system produces more energy than you use, the excess flows to the grid through a bi-directional meter. The meter separately records the energy you draw from the grid and the energy you export.
Meralco then applies the value of your exported energy as credits on your next bill.
Your system’s total generation may be measured using an optional REC meter or estimated through the ERC’s Gross Generation Formula, as provided under the 2025 Amended Net-Metering Rules.

Compute your savings
Your Net-Metering bill comes down to one formula:
In practice: take the Export Energy (kWh) on your Meralco bill, multiply it by that month’s blended generation rate, and that’s your credit. Unused credits carry over to your future bills. They can’t be converted to cash.
Here’s how it reads on an actual bill:
Four Ks: What to KNOW before investing
KNOW the right size
Size your system to the power you actually use during the day, so you don't pay for panels you won't need.
KNOW the right location
Check that your roof is sound and gets good sun; orientation, tilt, and shade all affect how much you generate.
KNOW the right provider
Choose a reputable installer who meets safety standards and backs the work with solid after-sales support.
KNOW the right requirements
Prepare your documents early and coordinate with your LGU for the Electrical Permit and CFEI to avoid delays.
Safety and compliance
Register your system with Meralco. We will ensure that it meets applicable standards and can safely connect to the grid.
Risk of equipment damage
A poorly installed or untested system can cause faults that damage your panels, appliances, or other equipment.
Electrical fire and electrocution hazards
Non-compliant wiring can cause faults that lead to fire or electric shock.
Safety risks for linemen and field personnel
Without proper protection, your system can keep power lines live during outages and put field crews at risk.
Power quality and grid stability issues
Incorrect installations can cause voltage swings that affect you and nearby customers.
How to apply
