How does Net-Metering work for my Home/ Business?
When you enroll in the Net-Metering program, Meralco will install a bi-directional meter at your home/ business. It is capable of reading both directions of energy flow.
During the day, your solar panel will supply a portion of your energy needs and any excess energy will be exported to the grid.
When night falls (or if no sunshine), since your solar panels no longer generate electricity, the grid will supply your full power requirements. This supplied energy will be measured by the bi-directional meter.
To get your total electric bill, the value of the energy you exported will be subtracted from the amount charged to you for the energy drawn from Meralco.
By enrolling under the Net-Metering program, Meralco is able to make sure that your installation operates safely for you, for your home/ business, for the community, and the dual flow of electricity is accurately measured.
