Electricity rates go down in May 2017
Meralco announced that electricity rates for a typical household went down this May by Php 0.29 per kilowatthour (kWh) for its residential customers. Households consuming 200 kWh will experience a reduction of around Php 58 in their electricity bill. Meralco Public Information Office Head Joe Zaldarriaga (in photo) explained that the overall rate decrease was due to the downward movement in the generation charge. Meralco also gave energy efficiency tips for its customers – like unplugging appliances when not in use, and turning the aircon to 25°C mid-setting – to help them manage their electrical consumption this summer season.
