Large enterprises prepare for Malampaya Shutdown
The spirit of ‘bayanihan’ and ‘malasakit’ is once again being called for as the nation prepares for the Malampaya Shutdown from January 28 to February 16, 2017. Hosted by Meralco, the Department of Energy, the National Grid of the Philippines and the Retail Electricity Suppliers Association (RESA) conducted an Interruptible Load Program (ILP) Implementers Forum on January 19, 2017. 198 captive and contestable companies with combined committed de-loading capacity of 738MW will help mitigate the supply deficiency when called to participate, sparing hundreds of thousands households from rotating brownouts. Seated from left to right were RESA president Raymond Roseus, Meralco’s VP for Utility Economics Lawrence Fernandez, Department of Energy Assistant Director Irma Exconde, National Grid Corporation of the Philippines-Luzon System Operations (NGCP-LSO) Head of Operations Planning Section Editha Palencia and NGCP-LSO Head of Power Network Planning Division Fidel Dagsaan, Jr.
