Meralco, Cabuyao LGU sign MOU to energize partnerships
It is the Cabuyao local government unit (LGU)’s turn to energize its partnerships with the country’s largest electric distribution utility. The Laguna city recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) to strengthen its collaborative process on programs that will enable and sustain the city’s rapid growth.
Signing the MOU at the Cabuyao City Hall are (L-R): City Councilor Imelda A. Entredicho; Vice Mayor Jose Benson G. Aguillo; Mayor Rommel A. Gecolea; and Meralco executives Ferdinand O. Geluz, Head of Home and Micro Business South Business Area; Bernard H. Castro, Head of South Distribution Services; Mendrado D. Raras, Jr., Calamba Business Center Manager; and Jose A. Dulin, Sta. Rosa Sector Head.
Meralco and Cabuyao City’s notable partnership agreements include: brightening up the city through the street lighting project; community electrification project with the support of One Meralco Foundation; and the energization of the city’s residential subdivisions, commercial centers and industrial parks.
Mayor Gecolea said during the signing ceremony that the LGU’s close partnership with Meralco has been a mutually beneficial one as the city needs a stable and reliable source of electricity to spur its progress. The local chief executive also lauded Meralco for its very quick resolution of its concerns like street lighting, which has been key to deterring crime in the city.
