Meralco, Makati City sign MoU to energize strategic partnerships
Makati City is the latest local government unit (LGU) to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Meralco under its Energizing Partnerships Program (EPP), thus paving the way for a strategic partnership between the two.
The MoU seals Meralco’s full commitment to work with Makati City to meet the city’s energy requirements and, more importantly, power up its goals such as becoming a Smarter City that makes extensive use of information and communication technologies to improve residents’ quality of life. The strategic partnership shall include, among other things, green initiatives such as putting in place e-vehicles and solar technologies, disaster risk reduction, and electrical safety programs; as well as supporting the Lingkod Bayan Caravan, which brings basic services including electricity down to the barangays.
In turn, the LGU has committed to work with Meralco to ensure cooperation in areas such as facilitating the processing of necessary permits needed for electric service applications, and supporting Meralco’s prepaid service known as Kuryente Load, which is now available in Makati.
