Brightening Low Income Homes in Pasig City this Christmas

Pasig City Mayor Ma. Regis “Vico” N. Sotto (sixth from right, third row), Meralco Chief Revenue Officer and OMF Trustee Engr. Ferdinand O. Geluz (fourth from right, third row), and Meralco Chief Corporate Social Responsibility Officer and OMF President Jeffrey O. Tarayao (fifth from right, third row) led the ceremony celebrating the initiative that gave Pasigueños access to safe and reliable electricity through OMF’s Household Electrification Program.
The event were joined by Pasig City Representative Roman T. Romulo, Pasig Vice Mayor Robert Vincent Jude “Dodot” B. Jaworski, Jr., Pasig Councilors Maria Luisa “Angelu” De Leon, Noel L. Agustin, Ronald Alan M. Raymundo and Meralco leaders Head of Customer Retail Services Charina P. Padua, Head of HMB Central Business Area Joy P. Mendoza, Head of Pasig Business Center Elizer C. Acordo, and OMF Program Manager Michael del Rosario. The launch was located where the first Pasig LGU-supported Meralco Anti-Urban Blight activity was held to clear the streets of dangling wires and other potential hazards for the safety of residents.
“At the heart of this initiative is promoting public safety. We all know that using jumpers or submeters is dangerous aside from the fact that submeters are also costly. In my conversations with local officials, Meralco, and One Meralco Foundation, we recognized the need to establish this project so that the electricity service here will finally be safe and legal under Meralco,” Pasig City Mayor Sotto said in Tagalog.
For his part, Meralco’s Geluz reaffirmed the distribution utility’s commitment to delivering continuous, reliable, and safe electricity service to customers.
“We at Meralco and One Meralco Foundation are here to work with our local government units to help improve the lives of the communities we serve,” he said in Tagalog. “With their support and collaboration, we are confident that more Filipino communities will reap the benefits of our programs.”
"Christmas is indeed brighter in these Pasig households. The colorful lights illuminating these households are not just symbols of the season, but a testament to our shared bayanihan—a commitment to lighting up the path for one another. We are honored to extend this gift of light to our neighbors across Pasig City, empowering them to be more productive and meaningfully contribute to their communities," said OMF’s Tarayao.
Under the Household Electrification Program, OMF has energized more than 80,000 households, contributing to the national government's aim of 100% nationwide electrification in the Philippines by 2028. This initiative has empowered residents to become more productive, creating impactful change and uplifting the lives of thousands of Filipinos.
