Green Energy Option Program (GEOP)
The Green Energy Option Program (GEOP) is mandated under Section 9 of the Renewable Energy Act of 2008 (RE Act) to empower electricity end-users to choose purely renewable energy resources for their electricity requirements.
Who are qualified for GEOP?
- End-users with a monthly average peak demand of ≥ 100 kW for the past twelve (12) months;
- End-users that have been in operation for less than twelve (12) months shall be considered newly connected end-users, and may participate in the GEOP, if their estimated monthly average peak demand is:
- ≥ 300kW for the next 12 months; or
- 100kW to below 300kW for the next 12 months and has a registered historical monthly peak demand of at least 100kW for three (3) consecutive months.
How will I know if I am a GEOP-eligible end-user?
Notification will be through an ad in the billing statement which end-users will continue to get for as long they are still meeting the demand threshold or until they have switched to GEOP. Upon receiving the bill ad, the eligible end-user may now join the retail market. Switching to a supplier is currently voluntary.
